Star Wars Force Trainer - Top Toy For Christmas 2009?
Leave the first response July 27, 2009 / Posted in Fun StuffDespite the slightly dubious second trilogy and the slightly woeful Clone Wars animated movie and series (Gadgetsaurus is a die hard original trilogy fan), Star Wars continues to be big movie merchandise business. The battle for top tops for Christmas 2009 is always competitive but have George Lucas et al struck gold yet again with the Star Wars Force Trainer. Would be Jedi Knights both old and young will want to test out their powers on this odd looking gadget?
The Star Wars Force Trainer comprises a headset and a tube that contains a ball (training remote)! It doesn’t sound too impressive, but by using EEG sensor technology and the wireless headset you can start to develop your mind control powers to move the egg in the tube. There are 15 levels of egg raising abiliy meaning you can progress from Padawan to Jedi Master whilst Yoda gives you encouragement. We guess you could always cheat, but that may lead you to the dark side!
This gadget costs £99.95 and is available on pre-order from Firebox.com - sadly even if you complete all 15 levels you won’t be a fully fledged Jedi - at least not until you’ve taken on your half man, half machine father, snogged your sister at least once, blown up a Death Star and then saved your father by defeating his insane boss.
We can see the fun factor in the Star Wars Force Trainer but at £99.95 it does seem a bit expensive - but that’s the cost of new technology. It perhaps has limited appeal, although a few mates and a few beers later the Force Trainer could definitely be a source of amusement. Kids may well enjoy the challenge for a while, but don’t be surpised if the urge to destroy it with a lightsaber or blaster soon takes over.
