Move over Lego your time is up! Now is the time of Bob the Builder! Now is the time of real brick building construction! Although for ages 3+ Bob the Builder Construction Sets are the kind of things you pretend to buy for your kids and then keep for yourself. Not only do you get real bricks you also get to mix your own mortar - meaning you can build mini structures in the warmth of your own home. There are two main sets with 30 and 50 bricks, but additional bricks and morter packs are available.

If you’re not sure what to build (or have got bored building garden walls) then each set comes with blueprints and design suggestions. You also can recycle your buildings too. Soak your construction in soapy water and the walls come tumbling down giving you the chance to shout “can we fix it”! To help you in your new career as a mini brick layer there’s also a Bob the Builder figure included in the 30 and 50 brick packs.

We think this is a brilliant gadget for kids and adults. Of course the downside is that you’re going to need a lot of bricks to build impressive structures beyond a zig zag wall or a clock tower. However, it does give kids a real insight into brick laying, construction and building and may well be a lot more fun than sticking plastic bricks together. We wonder how long it will be before there’s a Bob the Builder Construction Set championship or world record for the biggest structure built from Bob the Builder bricks… hmmm there’s a challenge!
